Quality Improvement Plan Essay Example for Free
Quality Improvement Plan Essay Executive Summary Todays educational system is becoming increasingly competitive for both students and institutions. Total quality management is an approach that seeks to improve quality and performance in an organizations operations. It looks at the overall quality measures including managing the quality design and development as well as quality maintenance and improvement. In addition, it takes into account all quality measures at all levels especially for students. Because of quality management we were able to comprehend and seek solution to the problems regarding the uniform policy. We were able to visualize the outcome of our proposal if this could be implemented. I. PROBLEM STATEMENT The following quality issues noted during the actual observation in the standard policy of uniform at Far Eastern University ââ¬â Business Center: Quality Problem 1: What will be the appropriate actions necessary to enhance the quality improvement of the universityââ¬â¢s standard policy regarding its uniform? Quality Problem 2: How will the University encourage the students to comply with the said standards? Quality Problem 3: How will the FEU improve student awareness and obedience with respect to the implemented rules about uniform? Quality Problem 4: How will the university achieve consistency with regards to the rules implemented about the required uniform? Quality Problem 5: What will be the corrective actions needed to stop the piracy of university uniform by external sewers or producers? II. QUALITY TOOL Fishbone Diagram III. ROOT CAUSE OF THE PROBLEM Based on the cause-and-effect diagram (fish bone diagram) we noted the following attributions to the observed quality problem: MANPOWER a. What b. Went c. Wrong MATERIAL a. What b. Went c. Wrong MACHINE a. What b. Went c. Wrong METHODS a. What b. Went c. Wrong MOTHER NATURE a. What b. Went c. Wrong IV.RECOMMENDATION AND BENEFITS Recommendations Benefits 1. The FEU should develop only one standard uniform for both female and male students. (implementation of this matter will be discussed in the next sub heading) This will prevent confusion in identifying FEU students and regulate fair presentation that unity exists in our school. 2. The FEU should provide an orientation per institute before the start of class concerning the guidelines for proper wearing of uniform w/ corresponding punishment for students of non-compliance with uniform policy. (Ex: standard length of girlââ¬â¢s skirts, wearing of rubber shoes, etc.) Specifically, female students are benefited with this in terms of eliminating the erroneous reputation for it will provide pleasing impression to them but it will also promote good character of the school. 3. FEUââ¬â¢s student council per institute should effectively disseminate the new implemented uniform policy approved by the Instituteââ¬â¢s Deans and considering enough time for the students to be prepared. Announcing personally increases studentââ¬â¢s adherence to the policy and prevents student complaints of information from unreliable sources. 4. All of the said recommendations above would be crucial to maintain so we recommend that FEU should have its own official Tailoring Shop inside the school. Student accessibility and convenience, consistency, less costly service, and prevents delays. V.IMPLEMENTATION PLAN AND BUDGET VI. APPENDICES A. The Patriot Act Protects America Essay -- Argumentative Persuasive Arg
The Patriot Act Protects America Since September 11, 2001 many people can say that America has changed. à Many people question if America has changed for the better or has it just gotten worse. Since the day those four planes crashed around the United States peopleââ¬â¢s lives have been changed. Many may not realize how their lives have changed, but with new laws passed life is different within America. The United States Patriot Act is one of the laws passed after 9/11: singed into order on October 26, 2001 just 45 days after the attack. The United States Patriot Act was put in place in order to protect Americans, yet has been affecting Americanââ¬â¢s civil liberties and caused controversy all over the United States. The U.S. Patriot Act was set in place to better serve our country against terrorism.à The U.S. Patriot Act is an Acronym for Uniting and Strengthening America by Providing Appropriate Tools Required to Intercept and Obstruct Terrorism Acts (Lithwick). à This act is to punish terrorist actions and improve law enforcement not only in the United States but also around the world. The United States Patriot Act consists of over 1,000 sections that describe the act in great detail. à The sections include, but are not limited to, the power extended to the government by The U.S. Patriot Act to deport and incarcerate non citizens. With the U.S. Patriot Act a personââ¬â¢s phone line can be tapped, records of any and all purchases checked, and even library records searched. à This Act also has sections to help money laundering, expand our countryââ¬â¢s border protection, strengthening the extent of criminal laws and provide for people suffering from any type of terrorism acts (Huf fman). à Some Americans think the U.S. Patriot Act goes ag... ...never demolish terrorism but they can help make laws to prevent it. The U.S. Patriot Act is clearly defined and understandable. Even though there are pros and cons to the act it is in the governmentââ¬â¢s best interest to help keep America safe and keep our civil liberties intact. à Works Cited * Fahrenheit 9/11. Dir. The Person I Admire
Maria Corazon ââ¬Å"Coryâ⬠Sumulong Cojuangco Aquino (January 25, 1933 ââ¬â August 1, 2009) was the 11th President of the Philippines and the first woman to hold that office. Aquino was also the first popularly and democratically-elected female president and head of state in Asia. [1][2] She is best remembered for leading the 1986 EDSA People Power Revolution, which toppled the authoritarian regime of the late strongman Ferdinand Marcos and restored democracy in the Philippines. Tita (Auntie) Coryâ⬠, as she is affectionately known, is considered and revered by many Filipinos as an icon of Democracy, and has been hailed by TIME Magazine as the ââ¬Å"Saint of Democracy,â⬠due to her well-known spiritual life and strong adherence to non-violence and democracy. A self-proclaimed ââ¬Å"plain housewifeâ⬠,[3] Aquino was married to Senator Benigno Aquino, Jr. , the popular opposition leader and staunchest critic of then President Ferdinand Marcos. Senator Aquino was assassinated on August 21, 1983 upon returning to the Philippines after his exile in the United States. After her husband's assassination, the widowed Aquino became the unwilling and reluctant leader of the opposition against the authoritarian rule of the Marcos regime. She united the fragmented opposition and strengthened its moral crusade against the abuses and excesses of President Marcos' martial rule. In late 1985, when President Marcos called for a snap election, Cory Aquino was called upon by the people to challenge his regime. Reluctant at first, Aquino thrust herself into the political arena after one million signatures urging her to run for president were presented to her. Despite having no prior political experience, except being her husband Ninoy's wife, Aquino proved to be a cult leader, inspiring orator and skilled campaigner. She ran for president with former senator Salvador Laurel as her vice-presidential running mate. When the Marcos allies-dominated Batasang Pambansa proclaimed Ferdinand Marcos The Great Hero as the winner in the 1986 snap elections, Aquino called for massive civil disobedience protests against him, declaring herself as having been cheated and as the real winner in the elections. Filipinos enthusiastically heeded her call and rallied behind her. These series of events eventually led to the ouster of Marcos from power grabbing and the installation of Aquino as president of the Philippines in February 1986, an event which is now known as the historic 1986 EDSA . Critiques Definition and Examples
A critique is a formal analysis and evaluation of a text, production, or performanceââ¬âeither ones own (a self-critique) or someone elses. In composition, a critique is sometimes called a response paper. When written by another expert in the field, a critique can also be called a peer review. Peer reviews are done to decide whether to accept an article for publication in a scholarly journal or, in an education setting, can be done in groups of students who offer feedback to each other on their papers (peer response). Critiques differ from reviews (these are also different from peer reviews) in that critiques offer more depth to their analysis. Think of the difference between a scholarly article examining a work of literature in a journal (critique) and the kinds of topics that would be covered there vs. a few-hundred-word reviewà of a book in a newspaper or magazine for the lay audience, for readers to decide whether they should purchase it.à Compare the term critique withà critical analysis,à critical essay,à and evaluation essay. Critiquing criteriaà are the standards, rules, or tests that serve as the bases for judgments.à Critiquing a Paper A critique starts out with a summary of the topic of the paper but differs from a straight summary because it adds the reviewers analysis. If a critique is happening to the first draft of a paper, the issues brought by the reviewers need to be large-scale issues with the premise or procedure of obtaining the resultsââ¬âin the case of a scientific paper peer reviewââ¬âand arguments, such as flaws in logic or source material and fallacies, rather than be criticisms on a line level (grammar and the like). Ambiguity and irony presented in the paper could be targets as well. Theà critiqueà is the process of objectively and critically evaluating a research reports content for scientific merit and application to practice, theory, and education, write Geri LoBiondo-Wood and Judith Haber. It requires some knowledge of the subject matter and knowledge of how to critically read and use critiquing criteria. (Nursing Research: Methods and Critical Appraisal for Evidence-Based Practice. Elsevier Health Sciences, 2006) A critique should also point out what works well, not just the flaws in the paper.à A critique should emphasize first what the article contributes to the field and then identify the shortcomings or limitations, write authorsà H. Beall and J. Trimbur. In other words, a critique is a balanced appraisal, not a hatchet job. (How to Read a Scientific Article. In Communicating Science: Professional Contexts, ed. by Eileen Scanlon et al. Taylor Francis, 1998) The Purpose of a Critique Arguments by the reviewer also need to be backed up with evidence. It isnt enough just to say that the paper in question is flawed but also how its flawed and whyââ¬âwhats the proof that the argument wont hold up? It is important to be clear about what aà critiqueà is supposed to accomplish, write authorsà C.à Grant Luckhardt and William Bechtel.à They continue: A critique is not the same as a demonstration that theà conclusionà of someonesà argumentà is false. Imagine that someone has circulated a memorandum arguing that your companyà retainà your current legal counsel. You, however, are convinced that it is time for aà change,à and want to demonstrate that....It is important to note here that you can prepare such a demonstration without mentioning any of your colleagues arguments orà rebuttingà them. A critique of your colleagues demonstration, in contrast, requires you to examine the arguments in the demonstration and show that they fail to establish the conclusion that the current legal counsel should be retained.A critique of your colleagues demonstration does not show that its conclusion is wrong. It only shows that the arguments advanced do not establish the conclusion it is claimed they do. (How to Do Things With Logic. Lawrence Erlbaum, 1994) Self-Critiques in Creative Writing A related term to critiquing used frequently in scholarly Bible study is exegesis, though it doesnt apply only to Bible scholarship. An exegesis (in a creative writing discourse)...is a scholarly piece of writingà with a focus on textual analysis and comparison using literature which relates to your creative writing project. Usually an exegesis is longer than a critique and reads more like a dissertation. There tends to be greater emphasis on your chosen comparative text than on your own creative writing project, with a clear thesis linking the two.The good news is, once you learn how to write a critique on your creative process, you will find that it actually helps you to better understand your creative writing. Paul Modrich And The Dna Mismatch Repair System Essay
Claire Wisener Paul Modrich and the DNA Mismatch Repair System On December 10, 2015, three profound individuals received the Nobel Prize in chemistry for their work on DNA repair systems. Paul Modrich, Thomas Lindahl, and Aziz Sancar studied how the cell repairs and protects the information held in its DNA; specifically, Paul Modrich focused on DNA mismatch repair. Since DNA constantly replicates, damage and incorrect pairings are expected, but enzymes watch over DNA as it replicates and repair any errors that occur. In the mismatch repair system, enzymes find the mismatch in the copy of DNA, cut the incorrect section out, and replace it with the correct sequence. Paul Modrichââ¬â¢s study of the mismatch repair system has provided the medical field with important information regarding cancer growth and the possibility of a cure. Paul Modrich was born June 13, 1946. Growing up in the small town of Raton in northern New Mexico caused Modrich to have an interest in science since childhood (HHMI). The large amount of biodiversity surrounding him sparked his interest in biology and DNA, and his father, the biology teacher at the local high school, encouraged Modrich to pursue his interests in DNA. After graduating from Raton High School, Modrich went on to receive his bachelorââ¬â¢s degree in biology at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology in 1968 and later went to Stanford University to get his PhD in biochemistry in 1973 (Duke University School of Medicine). In the late 1970s,
